I'm wondering which kit I should use when I take my BG1 fighter into BGII. I've only played the Berserker between the two, and the enrage ability seems almost invaluable because of the resistances to certain spells it gives.

So, my question is, which is more powerful?

Depends. The zerker has the rage, giving him great immunities (imprison comes to mind). He can also use all items available. The Wiz gets awesome magic protection, but can only use magic weapons, armor, and boots(iirc). However, if you dual the Wiz to a thief...you get a very powerful, but very cheesy class. A Wizardslayer that can use all items, add spell failure, place spike/time traps, and has 100+ mag resistance...behold, the power of cheese.

If you want a good, all-around Tank: Berserker. The Berserker is also the only character that can really stand his ground against multiple Imprisonments, except for a Wizard or Bard using Spell Immunity.

If you're willing to go the distance and make a really high-level Wizard Slayer->Thief, the Wizard Slayer is better. (Mmmmm.....cumulate Spell Failure against the final boss....ahhhhh)

Ditch the cheesyness, and play the beserker!!!

So far, the wizard slayer is garbage. No immunities, no special abilities, and only one % of resistance per level. And if I wanted to dual to thief without cheating I'd probably have to solo. Garbage.

2% magic resistance per level.. I´ve been enjoying playing Wiz so far, just trying to find my way out of Spellhold. The magic protection starts to come handy only after level 15 or so, I would think.

I must have a bug, since I'm getting only 1 percent per level.

No, not a bug, you do get 1% per level. But you can get it pretty darn high, especially in ToB, and its better when you find amulets that give you Magic Resistance.

I prefer the Wizardslayer, although the Berserker is more powerful. Wizardslayer have more interesting role-playing value, in my opinion.
