Is there any way to start a game in bgII that would allow you to set your characters level to a level one character? I know it'd be really tough, but I'd like to try. Is it possible?

I wanted to do that also (DUHM each level up for huge hp) but no luck. The only way is to dual class.

You can get XP fixers from TeamBG.com, i believe.

Hmm, perhaps you could use Shadow Keeper to "retard" the character in question.

Remember to "bow to the meow"

Yes, you can use ShadowKeeper to do this. You have to remember to reset your level, your HP, your Saves (could someone with a PnP rulebook give what they should be for a Level 1 character?), your Proficiencies, any Thieving Abilities, any Spell Memorization max's (although I think this one will reset itself next time you rest), & your XP (or else you'll just re-Level Up back to your old level & add on to all these attributes - e.g. your original HP + all the HP you gain from re-Levelling Up).

Heh - if you go this route, I'd suggest freeing Jaheira & Minsc before doing so, of course.

That was my first thought - you get 4000XP for freeing Jah and Minsc which is enough for a level up. I think anyone who *wants* to use a level 1 character should try BG1 and wander about the wilderness for a bit. I still recall that absolute horror of meeting a solitary wolf who killed me.

i agree that you should try bg1. it is waaayyy harder than bg2 and the environment is not user-friendly at all. i recall how many times i cried because my character was pathetic against 4 gibberlings (more pathetic than goblins). but once you have gotten through bg1, bg2 sounds like a snap (except with the new improved tactics mod) but note that having a cleric and mage is hard since they have so few spells at the start.

if you have BG1, you could make a character and use it to see what stats you should have as a lvl 1 character, then use shadow keeper to create that character.

another tactic would be to start a multiplayer BG2, then import your BG1 Lvl 1 character after you start and use it to replace the original, then convert the game back to single player (don't know if this would work, but I don't see why not).

actually i do have bgI and have beaten it a few times. I like it better than SoA just because it's so non linear. You can wander around for DAYS just completeing subquests and opening up new areas. It's harder to do that with SoA.
