<font color=deepskyblue>Since I am playing an assassin in my current game, I will obviously have a keen interest in relieving Mae'var of his Guildmaster status. Is the expanded Thieve's Guild Module worth the trouble? I'm perfectly happy with having a bigger challenge since I'll be taking over once it's done.

So, what are the opinions of the ones who have tried it?</font>

I've used it for a solo game (my Assassin rocked at level 48 - I've got the level 50 patch) and got it installed for my current party game.

Some of the additional encounters are interesting, the addition of the theives from Baldur's Gate is nice. I particularly liked the idea of going to bust your guys out of jail - this works really well.

My biggest concerns are (in this order) - the additional XP gained is massive - the jails are full of 9000XP guards which, on a solo game especially, makes the levels fly by even quicker.

Kazumo almost singlehandedly ruined my solo game. Some of the potions are supposed to be difficult to get - there are limited numbers of Invisibility and speed (Master Theivery becomes irrelevant after a few level advances), but Kazumo keeps an infinate stock. Not having to worry about the number of potions of invisibility I could get made soloing especially easy.

Playing with TOB installed, this becomes less of a problem when you can get the Alchemy HLA, but it's still really unbalancing for something so early in the game (potentially).

I actually found it VERY hard to clear out Mae'Var, but I don't think I was properly prepared for it. It's a good mod though. try it
ps. you can always *not use* the alchemist if you feel it unbalances the game

Expanded thieves guild? Is the same as the stronghold option that comes with your main character being a thief - or is this something else? When I went through as a thief, I found running the guild annoying.

It's the stronghold option expanded upon with a WeiDU mod, available at http://www.fortunecity.com/boozers/winelodge/79/

Mae'Ver doesn't have armor on, he is a worthy opponent..almost too worthy. He is a high level Thief/Mage, so be prepared. A second note, once you enter his floor (when fighting him) you can't leave until he is dead.

I just beat him yesterday for the first time and I only used my swashbuckler, Aerie, and Nalia. One of Mae'var's weaknesses is that he doesn't have any way to detect invisibility, so we just waited invisibly for many of his spell protections to wear off before we actually attacked. In addition, when one party member's hit points got low he/she would drink a potion of invisibility and then drink healing potions, so as not to get backstabbed while getting healed up. All in all it was pretty challenging - I used up a lot of potions
