quote from page 234 of the game manual for BG2: SoA

"Bard Abilities: Climb Walls: 50%, Detect Noise: 20%, Pick Pocket: 10%, Read Languages: 5%"

is this something that did not make it into the final cut of the game, i have not seen any evidence for this in the game itself, with all my experiences with bards (being a musician myself, i play alot of bards).

WHAT IS THIS?!

I think there's some thieving abilities like this listed in the manual as well. My best guess is that the tables are lifted straight out of pen & paper AD&D and no, it's not in the game.

After hearing from the Wisdom of others, I can now confirm that the BG2 manual is absolutely full of cack.

These racial abilities were never implemented into the game. Half of the spell descriptions are incorrect, and the Wisdom saving throw bonuses against mental spells were never implemented!!

This is only a guess, but the tables in the back of the BGII-SOA manual look like they were lifted - photocopied - from the Player's Handbook, 2nd edition Dungeons and Dragons.

Someone just didn't do their homework, and forgot to excise the bits about climbing walls and reading languages.

The climb walls, detect noise and read languages skills can also be found listed on page 233 of the manual in the Thieving Skills Armour Adjustment table, as well as 232 of the manual in the Thieving Skills Base Scores table.

This is more than a guess, people, this is the truth.
It is amazing that, inspite of all the bugs and typos, the Shadows of Amn still is the best game I've ever played.
