While perusing posts on this board I have seen many references to soloing. does soloing mean completing the game with only one character? if so what do you do about imoen? (i think she joins automatically at start of game) and obstacles your character can't deal with (like traps if you're not a thief)
Happy New Year!! |
Yeah, soloing means that you complete the game with only one character (you can just kick Imoen out) Traps aren't so deadly at all. If you are going to solo, I recommend fighter/mage/thief.

Fighters have enough HPs to survive traps, mages can cast Mirror Image or Stoneskin and survive.
The whole point of soloing is finding new tactics and roundabout ways of acomplishing things. |
If you're going solo, you'll find yourself many times puzzling over how to handle that one situation or defeating that one boss that you'd normally just run over like nothing!
Solo'ing is a real kick once you get the hang of it and you'll learn alot more in-depth about this game then you could ever imagine. |
In many places in the game, it is actually easier to have only one character. The game plays through much faster due to the lack of excessive party management and you will level up six times faster than you normally would. (or maybe five times... my maffs is shot to hell)
The only bad thing about soloing is having "libellous defecit in yer sky-rocket" and not being able utilize all the cool weapons that you pick up. But that's when you create a different character and go through again. |
Soloing is very fun, indeed. It's been a long time since I used a party at all, actually, because I find it so much better to solo.
Soloing is, however, much harder, and is only recommendable to people who knows the game in and out and who have completed it preferably atleast two times using a party. ;) |
when you play the game, you dont need to fill up all your follower slots. I usually do it wath a small party (2-4 characters). this gives a better XP cut, and lets me finish the game with a specialist of some sort (no fighter/mage/theif, or any multiclassing).
my experiences with multiclassing haven't been good. I tried to make a mage/cleric and have it wind out like Aerie, where every level i get both mage and cleric spells. (I started Cleric and at the start of the game, immediately switched to mage). After i surpassed the original level, every level i still only received mage spells. is Aerie a "special" class? (i use "special" lightly here) |

uhh? there's a difference? how would i set about implimenting this "multiclass"?

A multiclass starts out as a multiclass, e.g. Fighter/Mage, and levels up in both these classes. The dualclass, however, starts out as one class, and then changes to another class. After this change is made, the character only levels up in the second class, and can not use the skills of it's previous class until the new class is one level higher than the previous class. If that is understandable. |
