You could always re-buy the game through Ironworks...

*Dodges thrown objects and runs*

Really man, that is one mean cookie. My condolences :(

Sythe 12-28-2002 01:26 PM

re buy the game. are you NUTS I don't have a penny on me I spent all my money buying christmas presents. I would normally ask a friend who has the game but it turns out none of my buds do!

Sythe 12-28-2002 01:27 PM

oh forgot to add ahem is it possible to send the disk to Bioware and they would return me another disc 3

andrewas 12-28-2002 01:43 PM

Its possible, but not free AFAIK

But first, try cleaning CD3 and the CDROM drive - if CD3 is scratched a little then cleaning the drive may let you read it again. And if you have a full install, you could install a no-cd crack and not need any CDs at all. Or get ToB and you only need the ToB CD to play.

I don't have full install and my disc 3 has a whole lotta scratches got a big one from my cat (Darn CAT)

You could try cleaning the disk, and then possibly resurfacing it with a product such as the "diskdoctor." I've heard it can work well for many scratches. However, if your scratch is too deep, then you're going to have to send it in to Bioware, and get a replacement CD. Call their technical support phone number for instructions on how to do this exactly.

you could try burning a copy of the CD. This works rather well...i had a diablo II X-pac CD that was scratched from MY precious little kitty (my own fault for not putting the CD back in its case), and my friend told me that burning audio CD's sometimes gets rid of skips, so i burned the game CD. It worked after that. If your friend has a CD-buner, see if the copy will run (it very well might). Otherwise, my suggestion would be to put some scotch tape on your cat's tail. both for revenge and amusement. (this will hold you over until you have enough money to buy another copy of BGII)

My CD-ROM drive (not RW) minced my BG1 CD3 into zillion little pieces. Why? Apparently, it (CD) had a crevice on it, and high rotation speed did what it did.
I bought a pirated CD3. I now have five original and one copied CD. Hell, I bought a game once, why would I give $50 again? Or pay high sumes for calling a hotline in England?
This thought me to always make a copy of important stuff.

Same tragic thing happened to me. I fixed it though, a frined of my sent me the files that were corrupt and I burnt another CD and voila, BG2 was working again
