Wanted everyone's take on pickpocketing. From reading through this board and back it seems that everyone pickpockets. Are you taking into account the alignment of your party/thief when you are doing this (for roleplaying purposes)? Or do you not consider this an evil act for the purposes of BG game, because of the way the game was wrote/authored. Maybe I am overgeneralizing and pickpocketing is not as common as it appears.

personally, i think pickpocketings ok. if u get caught u face the consequences, if u dont ur lucky. and to top it all off its in D&D rules.

when u first imerge from irenicus's dungeon, u hav rubbishy splint mail. pay a visit to a weaponsmith or the one in the slums and nick full plate mail for ya tank (thats wot i did) and i nicked a few spells for aerie etc.
u get the picture.

you said something about reputation, i'm still fairly new to the game, so i have a beginner question. does your reputation go down every time u pickpocket? actually, if it's alright i'd like a sort of pros and cons thing on pickpocketing seeing as i've never done it before. thankyou for helping!

Nope. Just every time you get caught. :D

P.S. Getting caught pickpocketing is one of the common methods you can use as an "evil" party to drive down your rep without resorting to killing innocents. Unless you're into that sorta thing. ;)

thanks, i'll go get back to my new game as a thief as soon as i figure out another problem. but i'll start a new post for that since it has nothing to do with pickpocketing.

Oh, BTW, if you play a thief, you may want to consider downloading the Enhanced Thief Stronghold mod. It really makes the thief stronghold into something worthwhile, and since it's WeiDU based, it doesn't hurt any of the other mods in the game. Try it and see!
