I am soloing Bg2 and i haVe A BIG PROBLEM WITH KANGAXX THE LICH....how do I BEAT HIM...
I am Fighter level 11 and Thief level 14.I have Plate Of Balduran,Cloak Of the Sewers and Cloak of Non detection,Vailor`s helm(casts Simulacrum once a day),Guantlets of Ogre Power.Celestial Fury and Warhammer+2,but for Kangaxx i am using Flame Toung+1(on undead it works as a +4 weapon)so it is ok for his Demi-Lich shapechange. I am using traps but it doesn`t do so much damage so it is patethic.I was hiding in shadows but Kangi saw me!!! Please HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Ring of the Ram can be usefull in this fight. For optimum chease set traps in one corner, beat his lich form and use the ring of the ram to push him into your preset traps.

On a nother note my solo monk is unable to open the door to get into Kangaxx's House, I pump his stength up to 23 and still can't force the lock. Help please, i have tactics mod installed, will this matter?

Ways to kill Kangaxx:

1) PROTECTION FROM UNDEAD SCROLL
Easily and cheaply obtained from nearly anywhere, including the Adventurer's Mart, this is effectivly a 'Protection from Kangaxx' scroll. Once used, Kangaxx is unable to target you. He cannot cast any spells on you, and you are completely immune to him. A must have for this battle. The important thing to remember is, do not use this scroll on the whole party when Kangaxx is in his Lich form. Wait until Kangaxx gives a speech on how you have released his true form, then use the scroll. You can easily obtain six, one for every member of your party. However, you'll only need one Xen! ;)

2) PROTECTION FROM MAGIC
Whilst more expensive, harder to obtain, and less effective, this works fine. It grants complete immunity to magic. Thus Kangaxx cannot Imprison you, and all of his spells will not work on you. I prefer 'Protection from Undead', as it is more effective, cheaper, and easier to find. You can actually cast this scroll on Kangaxx the Lich, thus nullifing his spellcasting. It has been reported that it does not work on the Demi-Lich version.

As far as I can recall, the only items usable by a Solo Monk that con protect against Imprisonment are the Ring of Spell Turning, and possibly the Book of Infinite Spells, if you've got it on the "Minor Spell Turning" page. Each of these items will block only ONE Imprisonment, though, so you've got to be either incredibly patient or incredibly lucky.

I'm told that using a Protection from Magic on yourself works, as does a Protection from Undead. Still, the odds of a Solo Monk beating Kangaxx without cheese are slim to none.

The green Protection from Magic scroll does protect from Imprisonment. For a solo character, I do recommend it. Its effect lasts enough long so that you'll be able to do both Kangaxx and Twisted Rune with the same scroll. Only one thing: beware of Shyreza in Twisted Rune. She drains 4 levels per successful level drain attack and you, as a fighter/thief, cannot use the Amulet of Power. The level drain is a bonus attack to a physical attack so that the scroll does not protect against it. You'd better gain Mace of Disruption +2 first.
Against the scroll, Kangaxx is helpless completely and the most feared monsters in Twisted Rune are helpless, too. You can only get some physical damage in Twisted Rune, that's all. I have checked it.

Huh? Won't the monk have such a high MR that he'll shrug off imprisonment?

I beat him as a Solo m/c F/T so it can be done. I must confess it was so long ago that I know longer recall exactly. I think I managed to hide/run/evade until most of his protections wore off. I think I may have B/S'd him to start and then ran. I think I may have legally laid three traps too.

There is however a hammer (I think, someone will correct if wrong) that can slay undead upon contact. I remember using it in an early game and it flopped him on contact. I prefer to battle my way through so I never used it again. It is however a legal weapon and so you may want to consider it. You'll need to do the illithium quest before you can upgrade to this weapon. I no longer recall the particular weapons name, sorry about that.

Anyway, hope it helps.
