Near the end of chapter 7 in the room with the noble that turn into dopplegangers, you are flamestriked from one of the dukes. I have the fire resist ring on, under protection from fire scroll and a fire protect potion. Also, drank a invunerlabity potion for kicks. Still the flamestrike kills me. All dopp.'s are dead and both dukes are alive. How do I live long enough to get to the next stage?

The reason you are getting flamestriked is because you have let both of the dukes die. At least 1 have to survive the doppleganger fight. And if your going to try to protect one make sure it is Belt, the woman is very weak and its hard to protect her.

if your having trouble protecting them, try an Otilukes Resiliant Sphere on Belt. it freezes him from the battle and they cant hit him. i tried this, and i easily killed the dopplegangers. just dont cast dispel magic, no matter how badly the battle goes for you.

It's simple. Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury. In my experience, you don't. If you get hit from a flamestrike, you die.

If you don't have TOTSC and therefore, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere, then you're in for some fun. Use haste on your party first and equip one of your fighters with the Bastard Sword +1, +3 vs. Shapeshifters. Have any mages cast flame arrow (if they're not invokers or diviners) and magic missle (again if they can). DO NOT use Fireball or Lightning Bolt. Chances are that you'll hit the Dukes if you use them. I was able to save both of the dukes myself, but it took me 5 or 6 tries. Good Luck!
