I'm hearing all this debate about the equaliser, and I'm paying attention to it all because I'm finishing up the Underdark and I believe I have all the parts for it.
My character is a Cavalier, his stats are Str 18(21 w/ a belt), Dex 15, Con 16, Int 14, Wis 15, Cha 18. He's level 15 or 16, and his proficiencies are in longsword, sword and shield style, longsword and two handed weapon, I think. So, what are the stats of the Equaliser, and would it be any good for my character? [ 11-24-2002, 03:43 PM: Message edited by: The Cavalier ] |
I think the main advantage of the Equalizer is as an offhand weapon; the immunities as well as the extra attacks for having 2 weapons. Since you don't have proficiency in 2-weapon style, it probably wouldn't be all that useful.

not when compared to Casomyr, in my humble opinion the best weapon in the game
whenever i play a paladin(quite often) i buff up two-handed weapon and single weapon [ 11-24-2002, 03:59 PM: Message edited by: Angelousss ] |
Ok, I have Carsomyr, It's what I've been using. Will I be able to find a longsword anywhere near Carsomyr's greatness? When I epquip a shield I have, not only does it make me immune to charm and confusion and hold too I think, but it puts my armor class down to like -8 or -9 or something. So as you can see, I want to get back to using my sword and shield.

proably not until tob, will you find a long sword that is really comparable to the casomyr for a paladin. Oddly enough considering thier abundance, it's kinda hard to find really good longswords. Ask people the best weapons in the game you usually get lists that say
casomyr Foa crom fayer staff of the magi there are some good ones around though. i rarely use shields, i think i only have on person using them in my party(oddly enough aerie who carries the crom faeyr and mace of disruption+2) i prefer offense to defense What's your Ac w/out the shield, you can usually get servicable ac's w/out a shield. My kensai(Who cant use bracers or armour and is dual wielding) has an ac of -3 or -4 |
One word that will end your warror's dependance on shields...

Dual Weilding.
|
I'm gonna dissagree Kaltia
He's a paladin, so he can put 2 points into 2 weapon style and whatever weapons he's decided to use. plus he's already pretty far in making it difficult to start now. Plus he can use the Casomyr(still my recommendation). Just find good armor, the ring of gaxx, a ring of regeneration or ring of protection. belts, boots, gloves, necklaces can all be found to help ac |

I'm confused, how does dual-wielding help his AC and give him mindshield?

certain weapons give ac and other bonuses. the defender of easterhaven is a great example cause it gives all sorts of resistances. the other option is increasing your offense so much your defense doesn't matter as much, foa, cromfaeyr and lotsa swords are good options for this.
