I have a qeustion concerning the Asylum quest.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I hope this is enough but given big resolution screens it could still be visible. Here is my question: When I entered the Asylum it turned out that Yoshimo is a traitor. Is there any chance to keep him? I was pretty annoyed that I lost Yoshimo because I advanced him pretty good to do trap detection, hiding and disarming of traps. Now I only have Iome but she is a dual class and can't advance on these skills and here values are not very good at it, so I would prefer to have Yoshimo back somehow. I currently had to kill him and bring his heart back to the temple, but when I did this I only got experience points. I hoped that this would restore Yoshimo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Well I'm gonna give myself a big slap on the back because I AM THE MAN that worked out the way to keep Yoshimo. Now let's stop and ask if anyone wants to argue that point. Dan Simpsons walkthrough contains this method, originally given to him by Accord as told to Accord by me but supplied wrongly by Accord to Dan. His walkthrough is now updated.
Sorry Guys but credit where credit is due....Charlie London from London worked this out. To keep Yoshimo in your party you must not set sail to Brinlaw with Yoshimo in your party. If Yoshimo sets sail for Brinlaw with you, even if you leave him in Brinlaw when you go to Spellhold, he will appear with Irenicus and his plot will unfold. You must leave Yoshimo on the mainland, preferably in the Copper Coronet. You need to complete Spellhold etc (Don't want to spoil all). Upon returning to the Copper Coronet, have the party leader don boots of speed, enter the C.C and immediately talk to Yoshimo. Invite him into the party, he will join and then die via the geas put upon him. Now he's in your party you can ressurect him and keep him until the end of the game. Be aware though that Yoshimo is worth 200,000 XP if you follow his plot. You cannot get that XP with the above method. Yeah I know I've shot me mouth off......but OI....I really was the first to work this out....job done. |
Good one!
ive being trying to work out a 3some party for my next run through bg2 and i wanted a theif come fighter to balance the group, i dont think the turnip salesman from hell quite fits the bill. just a few questions though. can yoshi be taken to T.O.B.? and how does he pan out later in bg2 does he have some bad points? |

I'm working on a mod for a thief, called Dan, a Swashbuckler Elf, that can be found in the copper coronet.
But my attempts are coming up futile, whenever I summon my character the game crashes! :( |
Not to demean Charlie's method, but I've heard that there is a way to take Yoshimo to Spellhold (even into the Asylum itself), and keep him afterwards.
You can Flesh to Stone him whenever you want, assuming you have a Wizard or a Bard. He's not in the party anymore, so he can't turn traitor, and he can't talk to you, so he can't go back to the Copper Coronet. After whipping Irenicus, a little Stone to Flesh action and some healing, Yoshimo's all ready again. (I wonder what he says to Jon in the final battle, though?) |
Thats a good point! i would not want to take him all the way to the end of jon irenicus and find the geas is still effective. Has anybody actually done this and can garantee in blood that yoshi...sorry, yoshimo (were not that close) does safley progress to t.o.b?

I can't guarantee that you can use Yoshimo in ToB as I haven't tried. I can guarantee that you can use him until the end of SoA and still have him alive after beating Irenicus & chums. (I took him to LV 23 or 24 or so...)
You do get offered the chance to resurrect him (as you do with all NPC's) in ToB but I never tried as I soloed it. It may be that if he's alive in the FINAL SAVE of SoA then you can bring him with you. Apologies for the blatant boasting......I was very, very drunk. (EDIT) Six of Spades. A good point and it may well work, but who wants to do Brinlaw etc only to find the method flawed. I'm yet to see someone write "I have done this method and I guarantee that it works". ;) [ 11-26-2002, 05:04 PM: Message edited by: Charlie ] |
Excellent news, atleast a glimpse of hope. Even though he acts as he did in SoA, he's a character whose skills help a group. I think I'll try to Flesh to Stone route, as I've left yoshimo on the mainland before and he's just died immediately after I reenter the Copper Coronet. I guess thats where the boots of speed come in? So you can run to yoshi before he keels over?
Flesh to Stone seems a bit less risky. I'd really like to get Yoshi into ToB. dulous. |
