I just killed all the nobles (i.e. dopplegangers) near the end of chapter 7. Then I get hit with a flamestrike that from belt or lia or someone and die (at least 50 times now). I have tried potions, rings and all comboinations. How do I get live past the flamestrike and get to the next section of chapter 7?

Potion of fire resistance or Scroll of protection from fire. Add this to the ring of fire resistance, and you will have no problem.
