They have it and it's expansion at amazon.com for 19.99, which seems like a great deal.
i think that's retail now. it's definetely a great game although quite different than bg2 because you start at level 1
Yeah you should get it, its no way near as good as bg2 in my opinion though. Its good to know the full story of the whole saga and to meet up with NPCs you see in bg2.
Definitely, not only do you get a better story and a more convincing villain, you also get to freely explore every inch of the area BG1 takes place in. Besides, there's always the charm of being super weak and having to retreat from a wolf pack or a bear. I also think BG1 did better with some small, yet important aspects like the narrator voice and character models.
Finally, you'll also understand a lot more about the characters and the story in BG2 if you've played the original. |
I think I'll also feel better saying to certain folks in BG2, "Hey, I remember you!", etc...
or Hey aren't you dead?
Get it. Once you get used to the low resolution and lack of tab highlighting, its almost as good as BG2.
I think it'll be pretty nifty to start from scratch, and then take that character onto BG2...Say, how good is Tales of the Sword Coast?
<font color="cadetblue">After beating BG2 and TOB I got BG1. It was such a shock when I started playing it. After being level 25+ in TOB you start at level 1. TOB: "Pssh, a group of kobold commandos, waste of time. I'll send Aerie to melee them." BG1:"AAH! A kobold commando! RUN Minsc run!!!"</font>

Nothin like earnin that level 25, eh?
