ok i thought having a paladin [cavalier] in my party (multiplayer) would b cool. we r at de'arnise keep and she seems to b
a) do hardly any damage
b) never hit.
ok she's only level 8 but she really seems not worth the bother, tho i cant flaw her HP and way she kills golems, doing 5 damage now and then.
can anyone give me a simple reason to whats happening. is it worth dropping her (missing out on using the Casomyr) or sticking with her til shes higher level?

What are her stats?
Caveliars are one of the best classes in the game(look at the resistances) plus they are a fight(Tank) get some spells in later levels, the lay hands ability and all you give up is the ability to use ranged weapons.(a tiny consequence since she should be using the casomyr as soon as possible anyway)

The thing I find about this game is alot of the creatures are immune to certain types of damage. It is kind of good to have stats on at least two different melee weapons so you can switch weapons when you need to for more effective damage. My first time through the game I had a hell of a time with golems because all my fighters had slashing weapons and the only people that could get any hits were mages using simple staffs. Maybe it is the type of weapon vs. the types of creaturs you are facing. Maybe if she goes up a few more levels she will be better.

Yeah the weapons might be it. I was using Azuredge with Minsc and using my Undead Hunter when the Iron golem was not casting its Gas cloud and it took some time even when I was using Flail of the Ages. I cast Sanctuary and took the items the golems where guarding then I made the Flail of the Ages and then attacked the Golems. Use different weapons and the never hitting point might be that you have no profeciency points in the field. When you get Carsomyr though, she will kick butt! (as Minsc says). That sword is one of the best weapons in SoA. I can't wait for ToB since you can upgrade it to +6 at normal standards

Well, not upgraded it is really good, so upgraded it kills!!!

Also, the 50% Resistance is something that is VERY rare. AND if you use items right, you can bump it up to about 80%!

Perhaps the reason she can't hit anything is because her Strength is low, if you buy the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength from the Adventurer's Mart, her THACO will be better.

I have a question too, should i continue to have my Blade(PC) use Carsomyr(he's proficient in two-handed sword) thanks to the Use Any Item ability, or should I just have him wield Celestial Fury and Equilizer w/two-weapon style?

Blades will do better dual-wielding. If you had any other bard kit I'd use Carsomyr.

1. What is her strength. Bump it up using a girdle if it's beow 18/xx
2. Ensure that she is using weapons she is specialised with. If she's using a 2-H sword, then ensure that you have ** in this category and at least * in 2-H weapon style to recieve speed factor/damage/critical hit bonuses.

Unfortunately, you can't do this with Carsomyr. The MR is locked at 50%, it does not grant +50%. The only MR that is cumulative with this weapon would be innate MR (from tMoLTM, tear of Bhaal and that from a wizard slayer).

I'd dual wield. Carsomyr is a nice weapon indeed, but 1 APR just isn't enough. If I were you, I'd couple Celestial Fury with a weapon that grants an extra APR (Belm, Scarlet or Kudane for example). Using Celestial Fury in the main hand, you get 2 swings with this and the third with the offhand weapon. This will maximise your Blades damage per round
