I was playing today and cleared that guarded compount (or did it say guarded on the map?, any way..). Then I began to think is there a quest related to that building? Atleast I have never myself ran into a quest where you would have to go there.

it was unfinshed by bioware, it was suppose to be part of the slaver quest.

I hope you picked up the Celestial Fury, right?

There was indeed a quest planned for the Guarded Compound - it is supposed to be related to another big fight which i won't spoil here.
Due to time limits, BioWare never finsished it. :(

I just went in. Two wizards told me to beat it. I said I would, but after they left I stayed. Just a little ways in, there is a demon (forgot name) fighting an efreeti, ogre berserker and another lesser creature. Of course when I get a little too close they come after me. So I killed them.

Can anyone shed some light on the creatures fighting each other was all about? I am curious. Or on what the party upstairs was doing, before they attacked me? Even if it was a quest not finished, is there some logic or sense to what happened?

I did go upstairs and get the Celestial Fury. Of course no one in my party is proficient in Katanas. And it will be a long time before I gain more proficiencies.

All of the summoned creatures were intended to attack you. However, Demons naturally attack whatever creatures happen to be near them, preferring to attack those that are not Protected From Evil. So the Demon started going for the Ogre Berserker, Efreeti and the Ettercaps, who naturally fought back. When you ventured close enough, however, they decided it would be more fun to just gang up on you.
