Choc was sick-Urinary Infection (He's back to normal.. ripped into the toilet paper)

Well, Friday evening this began, and we rushed him to the 24hr Emergency Pet Clinic, and the did Xrays, and he has no crystals or any obstructions in the urinary pathway, but may just have a urinary infection.
So they gave him a 10 day antibacterial shot.. should heal it.

ANYONE else had a cat or dog that had this?? and the went pee, and it was pink and/or normal at times? scares me, as he's 21... I would be crushed if he died, but kinda know 'that time is coming', but don't think about it.

just scared.. He's eating and drinking fine, cleaning himself, and begging for treats during this, so I guess that's good.. :)
If he doesn't have improvemet in a few days or whenever I see he needs help, I'd take him back up there. he keeps trying to drip pee/blood on the tile.. ugh.. keeping him on old blankets and warm. :) hate seeing him hurt.

Re: Choc is sick -- Urinary Infection (Peeing a bit of BLOOD).. scary..

He's doing a bit better, they say about three days in, and he should show marked improvement. :) WOOHOO! Hope so. He's eating food, treats, and purring.. so I he's acting much better. Choc sure is a fighter.. all this, and blind.. amazing.

He did a huge stretch and yawn when he woke up--hasn't done that since he was really sick, but that's a GOOD sign! He has 99% normal urine now, and is still eating and drinking and even going for the treats! hehe.. I think he's going to get better.

Vet said a second antibiotic shot may be a good idea, just to make sure its gone. :) in a few weeks.

Good to hear, I guess we should have known that Choc was too bad ass to get whipped by a disease.

He seems back to normal now... all his usual things.. and ripped into the toilet paper yesterday.. lol.. that his way of saying "I'm back sucker!" :)
Funny.. he never stopped eating food or water.. he begs for food like a dog does :), and always thought, even if he was sick, he's probably still eat.. YEP!.
He was a fighter through it.. but let me warn you..... if your pet has a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection), if cat or dog--get 2 packs of those puppy pee pads... and prepare to follow them around when
they are awake.. they will try to 'leak' places... since I didn't want the house smelling like piss, I made sure I had tissues ready following him.
When HE slept, I did... Donna and I watched him in shifts on the weekend.. (when I got more than 4hrs of sleep for like 6 days, but its worth it.)
I am his seeing eye human.. had to help :D

21 this year.. (saw his adoption records) he was 5 1/2 in 1998-99 forget ATM, but wow... wonder if he's the oldest living BLIND cat? :P

I'm glad choc bounced back! Our 19 year old kitty misses the litter box some days. It's a challenge, but he is such a dear old pal we can't stay mad for long. Thank goodness for the newfangled enzyme-based odor killers!

I'm glad to hear he is better! my old kitty had infections most of his life cause his kidney's were small. still lived to be 17 and that made me happy!
