AFP reporting that Japanese government has ordered ministers to be on the alert for something 'unexpected' and 'anything could happen'!

I imagine it would be asking for a world class butt-whooping. Though in my opinion, it's far more damaging to them if you dismiss them as irrelevant. Then watch as they throw a temper tantrum and point at their warheads in a delightful game of "whose is bigger".

I just wonder, if they keep up their aggression and someone (SK) does retaliate, will China come to their rescue this time?

The politics here is beyond my ken. But I think it will take a big provocation by NK for the US to get involved, mainly because NK holds the metropolitan areas of Japan hostage. Maybe its time to let/ask Japan to re-arm.

The US is moving an aircraft carrier strike group to the yellow sea -- off S. Korea... For 'exercises'... heh... I know it was planned way before this NK strike, but it could inflame matters..

Pretty sure we already had a situation like that in the past with the russian subs off the east coast? The answer is, we kept them under observation.
