Who didn't see this coming?

Wonder who BHO is going to blame for this BHO failure?

Key U.S. allies in Iraq said to be rejoining rebels

BAQUBA, Iraq — Members of United States-allied Awakening Councils have quit or been dismissed from their positions in significant numbers in recent months, prey to an intensive recruitment campaign by the Sunni insurgency, according to government officials, current and former members of the Awakening and insurgents.

Although there are no firm figures, security and political officials say hundreds of the well-disciplined fighters — many of whom have gained extensive knowledge about the American military — appear to have rejoined Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia. Beyond that, officials say that even many of the Awakening fighters still on the Iraqi government payroll, possibly thousands of them, covertly aid the insurgency.

What we 'should' have done is break the country up. Create a Kurdistan and split up the Sunni and Shia Arabs. But that would have created states that Iran could easily cherry-pick, I think. I think the reason we didn't break up Iraq was the hope that it would be a bulwark against Iran. I'm afraid there are no easy solutions, what do you think should be done, Felix?

The dam has been craked and the bridge was in fact not prepared.

What do I think should be done? I have two bids in on two overseas positions, and no return to base OPORD!

What does the acronym mean?

BTW, to answer the question, I didn't see it coming but it doesn't surprise me. Since we have pulled out the main combat force we are sure to see a backlash against the Iraqis who aided our cause. They will almost certainly be seen as "collaborators".

Yes, when our forces leave a government they have proppped up, some people always defect back to the other side. Same story repeated again. It's even being repeated in one of the places it occurred before.

But we cannot camp our troops in a foreign country forever. The lesson to be learned here is don't start illegal wars to begin with, don't go f'n with other country's shit when it doesn't concern us, and leave people the hell alone.
