Comments about this Dell Windows 7 rig

Ok :IW:, here is a system to replace my ancient home built *cough* Socket-A rig. No bells or whistles can be changed, this is a "AS IS" take it or leave it deal.

Looking for what you guys think that are way more current than I in the evolution of the PC market.

This will be used @ home, honestly (sadly), the only game I have played in the last two-three years is Travian, which is on-line and browser based. Moreover, Word, Power-Point, Excel, and photo-editing will be the crushing challenge of it's capabilities.

SYSTEM COLOR Piano Black

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q8200 (4MB L2, 2.33GHz, 1333FSB)

OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English

MEMORY 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 2 DIMMs

HARD DRIVE 640GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache

OPTICAL DRIVE 16X DVD+/-RW Drive

VIDEO CARD ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB

I am assuming you intend to continue not playing games other than Travian. If this is the case, you're set. If not, you're options are limited. But with 4g ram, a quad and a 64 bit OS, you should have no problems at all doing the largely non-intensive stuff, which what you listed above.

This rig will play current games...perhaps not with the FPS that would be desirable on the more intensive shooters, though. Is this for gaming, or just productivity?

@SW, thank you.

@Elf, I do not own any current games, and no longer receive any correspondence about games, or the future thereof. I have arrived at a juncture in my life were the PC is no longer a mainstay of my hobbies.

I'll echo the other sentiments here, it looks good for what your intended uses are. However, I'd just like to know the price of this machine to see if you are getting a relatively decent deal or if Dell if way overcharging the price.

Dell won me over a few years back with this laptop I still use so, I've shopped a good bit with them since then.

I always look in the scratched and dinged section of the Dell outlet site for similiar machines I'm considering. I have found often the prices are %50-%70 less than retail for what amounts to minor case blemish like a faint scratch in the paint. FWI FWIW.

I think you will be with no problems! How much have you pay for this?

The price, well I have a coupon that is worthless, but will lower a Dell system by $200 and includes free S&H. With that, this rig ships at under $450 USD.

Search around for other coupons online, you can stack some of them on Dell. Most I have achieved was 50% off.
