Oh I so agree. I am just plain uncomfortable with the idea that the designer's of Baldur's Gate II saw women that way. I am uncomfortable because it is so disgusting, and so familiar. It is the familiar part that bothers.
I know the tricks, I know the whys, and still it sucks. While it reveals a weakness in men that is never spelled out, it still doesn't cast a shine on the female halo.
The only female that came close to being a real one (imo) was Mazzy, and I suppose, as a female, I am prejudiced. Still, I didn't keep her because better a nasal, demanding, Anomen, than someone who leaves at the drop of a hat.
A tank is a tank. And when you are dying (translate: loosing in a battle) you tend to think of that which restored balance and the possibility of survival in a prior battle. Mazzy is a great tank. But she runs out there like a fool, and for all her skills, quickly becomes someone you have to take care of, rather than someone who saves you.
(Personally, I cannot tolerate having a party member die unless I don't like them.)
Unless the rest of your party is smarter than mine, anyway. A great feel good NPC, but a problem in the ongoing situations where the holding-back attitude is the smart, and successful one.
So I have never taken her far. And the time I did, she split to save her sister. Nice relative, but lousy member for my group to spend XP on. I have to work from where I'm learning first, anyway. I just don't like party members who join and then quit quick. The transient nature just makes me p.o.'d to the max.
I hate quitters.
Ewwwww!
