Tried to do a bit of crafting for the first time and i have as per the fire book...

ruby, weak fire essence (memphit hide) and a plain dagger

I cast fireball and it comes back not valid. WHY?

Make sure there aren't any other ingredients on the table - just the ones you need.

Should work if you've got the appropriate level and skill

You've extracted the essence from the hide with the mortar and pestle, btw ?

Okie dokie :)

You can also use the mortar & pestle on the table to combine two essences into a stronger one eg two faint essences would form one weak essence.

If necessary you can also dilute essences - a glowing becomes a weak for example. (only 1 for 1 here, afaik)
