Windows update request?

Is it ok to run this?
It looks legit, but I just never know with this things.

Re: Windows update request?

Did this come spontaneously or as part of a windows update process?

It's a normal part of a Windows update process, so if it happened during that, I wouldn't worry. If it "just happened", then I would.

To be certain, launch a Windows update process yourself. Either click on Start, All Programs, Windows Update or go into Control Panel / Windows Update.

I uninstalled something (HP driver) and when it restarted, I got this request. I did do an update yesterday.

Ran the update and was told no high priority updates needed, so I hit cancel.

Don't worry about it for now, then. It only really comes in to play when you update.

If you don't install WGA, Windows will eventually stop updating. WGA was designed to prevent pirate versions of Windows from being updated. I would install this software if I were you. It will streamline and speed up the update process, if your version is legit.

Is there a way of doing it, now that I have closed the window? There was nothing in the Windows update about it. I suppose it may just come up again..

Go here..http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/def...displaylang=en

On the left are two buttons, one to validate Windows and one for Office. That will hook you up.

Wow, that's the fastest thing from Windows I've ever seen!

Thanks!
