I decided to re-instal BG2 yesterday and have just come out of Irenicus Dungeon. It seems that 90% of the people I try to talk to appear to be busy. I get the usual "Cannot initiate dialogue.....appears to be busy" etc.
I have completed the game before and never had this problem. If I quit the game and reload, it's okay for a while but then begins doing it again which makes playing the game impossible. I do have the TOB expansion instaled but I do not believe this would make any difference.
Also I have not patched the game in any way. I steer away from patches unless I find that I cannot play it otherwise. This didn't seem to have any negative effect the first time I played through it however.

Any ideas as to why or what may be causing this would be a great help cause I'm just about tearing my hair out here!

If you do not have ToB installed, get the Official SoA Patch first, then get the Baldurdash SoA Fixpack v3.61.

If you do have ToB installed, get the Official ToB Patch first, then get the Baldurdash ToB Fixpack v1.12.

That is the recomeded way to play the game; the patches are bugfixes and almost necesary. The ones you might be worried about are the mods, which the patches are not, but even they should be pretty safe if you follow the install instructions [img]smile.gif[/img] </font>

Thanks Lennon. I just saw a post below by Dundee. Checked out the ToB patch and that one seems to be the fix for it. Guess the upgrade to XP had it's effects after all...hehe
