I'm no coder but....
....for the sake of curiosity, how hard would it be to make a crossbow that sholt bolts that did both poison and electricity damage?
|
Re: I'm no coder but....
Hmm - I think it should be fairly easy to do... but I am not sure. :)

Re: I'm no coder but....
Poison is, but I''ve always had problems with elemental attacks.

Re: I'm no coder but....
its still not working to set an item to do a spell (monster poison ;)) on a target. if you make an item that does a spell script it still selects the user as the target of the spell :(

Sourceforge DungeonCraft buglist. Priority 9. See: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid...54&func=browse Manikus (gone but not forgotten) and I had an agreement. He would get someone to provide a minimal dungeon to demonstrate a bug. This means "The smallest possible dungeon that will demonstrate the bug." Send it to me with description of how to make the bug happen, a recording if possible, and a description of what should happen. If I am able to repair it, I will provide an updated executable that the bug-submitter will test and let me know what is wrong so I can fix that and he can test and I can fix, etc. until we either give up or get it right. This offer is still open. I have had good luck repairing bugs like this but I need help because I don't know how things are SUPPOSED to work and I don't even know how to create such situations as you describe. The priority of the bugs was set by Manikus. Generally, the priority 9 bugs are supposed to be show-stoppers in the sense that you cannot duplicate UA effects and are therefore necessary for Dungeon Craft version 1.0. |
Re: I'm no coder but....
Hmm - sounds like a great offer! I've been looking at the code but can't make beans of most of it :D Should be easier to just demonstrate what is wrong using DC (except I can't do that at work)...
I've a busy week coming up, but I will try to tackle at least a few bugs that way when I can... Anyone else is free to help that way, too! Thanks, Paul! I will try and demonstrate a few combat-related bugs (and others), then (but not right away... ;) ) |

that are not rated priority 9 on SourceForge buglist. I trusted Manikus to prioritize the existing bugs. Any additional bug must earn a consensus that it is NECESSARY for version 1.0. Of course, anything that causes DC to crash in any way will automatically qualify for priority 9. This restriction is necessary to keep our focus on getting a usable version that can compete with the original UA. Moving from version 0.9 to 1.0 is hard, tedious, unrewarding work that should be shared by all interested parties. |
Re: I'm no coder but....
I agree - 1.0 is the big milestone that we are all looking forward to, and coding the bugs out is tedious, unrewarding work that we are all very thankful for :D
One question - are there already some priority 9 bugs that people have made mini-mods for you to tackle? (Just checking, so I don't make you take on the same bug twice...) |
Re: I'm no coder but....
Thanks for the help, Paul, especially since you are obviously not interested in using/playing the editor/game itself. That's true altruism! :)

Re: I'm no coder but....
I am currently working on nothing. Any of
the priority 9 bugs is fair game. Some of that code is totally foreign to me.....I have never looked at it. But I am willing to try. When you submit a mini-dungeon to demonstrate the bug, you might want to update the discussion on the buglist to let folks know that the process has been started. It is not truly altruism. I get my kicks in a bit different way, perhaps. |
