What is the best equipment that the monk can use?

BALROGBANE 11-21-2001 08:26 AM

Any help would be nice!

Thanks.

Firstly, Gauntlets of crushing on his fists.

The Amulet that protects against level drain and increases magic resistance should go around the neck.

On the head, a nice Ion Stone (or whatever they're called} that increases armour class should be worn.

On the hand, a ring +2 or regeneration ring. Preferably the ring of Gaxx.

The scarlet Ninja-to (from the bonus CD) is o.k. though the Monk is best with fists - hence the gauntelts of crushing.

The belt of inertial barrier is superb, otherwise a giant strength belt is good too.

The cloak of reflection is the best around of course.

The boots of speed are useless with the Monk. He's so fast anyway. Go for stealth boots, or boots that protect against missiles.

Early in the game the monk's main weapon - his fists - is lousy. I equipped my pc with the blade of roses (+3 longsword) which is available at the Copper Coronet very early in the game. When he reaches higher levels (12 or so) you can rely on his fists but until then the blade will be very helpful.

Mate, I found his fists from word go were great. More attacks per round than with any sword for a start.

The Blade of Roses is pretty cool though. I combined that with the ring of human influence for some aspects needing high charisma. Ring, Blade and Nymph cloak give a Charisma of 22!

No worries!

Fists it is
I think the only thing that is useful to a monk (that you isnt useable by anyone else) is the gauntlets.....nothing else is purely for the Monk class (SoA anyway)

Sure, the Scarlet Ninja-to is Monk only.

Hey Yorick,

you're right the monk gets more attacks with his fists than a sword. But even early in the game lots of monsters "need" enchanted weapons to be killed. It would have been impossible to clear the lower tombs, the temple ruins or Nalia's keep until my monk reaches level 12 at least. So, the blade of roses or the celestial fury are inevitable till deep in the game.
