Well, I am a newbie to BG2, so I would like to know if Aerie is enough as a mage in my team, which is for now :
Me (Monk)
Minsc
Jaheira
Aerie
Yoshimo
Viconia

Thanks !

Aerie can provide enough of a magical support, if you don't rely on it, but if you want to cast level 7 and 8 spells - pick up Edwin or Nalia or Imoen (when you get her back). Jan can't get to level 7 spells either. Edwin has by far the greatest number of spells per level, but he is evil and he can't cast any Divination spell. Nalia and Imoen are almost identical.

Divination school is not so much useful and it's good to have a mage and conjurer. Mage will cast divine magic. I'm a Aeria lover and fan she's a great backpack provider healer spell caster etc but she wont be enough as your PRIMARY mage. If youre evil go with edwin he can cast 8 (yes eight!!!) 1,2,3 level spells and 7 (yes seven!!) 4,5 level spells.
This means you can cast 8 magic missile, 8 aganzar schorcer, 8 fireball, 7 icestorm and 7 cloudkill. Deadly!!!
I'm good and I like Nalia she's very useful with her thievery skills. Can edwin use bow? no! What's his dex? (Nalia 18) Can he backstab? Can he hide in shadows? And best of all,

what about his

accent and voice??

Edwin's talking, speech and voice is killing me
But nalia is a damn sexy woman with her skirt and face
