First off, I'm diggin' the signature pictures that you (amazing artists) use.

I get a warm fuzzy feeling of nostalgia when I see people who put the great classic videogame characters in their signature (hivetyrant and armageddon272 are two that come to mind). I think thats awesome!!! Makes me wanna break out the old nintendo, blow the dust off of it, and see if'n I can't get the durned thing to work...

Also, I see a lot of talent in the artwork that you people do. (shameless plug, sorry) There is an artwork contest in the DungeonCraft section of the Ironworks forum, and its open to anyone interested in doing art. If you don't know what DungeonCraft is, its a game that is being created in the style of the old SSI Dungeons and Dragons Goldbox games, and its successor FRUA (Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures) which let you design your own goldbox-style games. The FRUA game drew a modest fan base, and people were making and distributing games (and even hacking the code to make more options available, as the "unlimited" part was still fairly limiting...)

Now, DungeonCraft is already better than what FRUA was, and is going to be what FRUA should have been all along... Its got more options and better control over the adventure making process, its being made by an awesome programmer who takes the suggestions of the people and makes them happen, and features much better art capabilities. Best of all, its 100% FREE!!!!

But you might have noticed that I said it has "much better art capabilities", what that means is we need artwork: pictures, battle icons, all sorts of stuff; and this is where the artwork contest comes in. We decided to hold an art contest to give the game some "default" art to start with and show the capabilities the game has. If you feel like showing off your ability (and wouldn't mind your name on the credits of a new computer game for the art you submit...) you should check out the Dungeoncraft area of the forum.

Just an idea for the Ironworks art people (and hey, if you don't think of yourself as an artist (like me) you can still give it a try ;) ) Now that sure sounded like a shameless plug for DC to me (and hey, it was... a little...just a little), but I do admire the art I see here (otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned the artwork contest ;) )

Is it bad etiquette to reply to yourself???

Anyways, I forgot to mention to all you composer types out there who are looking for an excuse to make that symphony piece or anyone who is a musician or anyone else, this happens to be a media contest, as we also want DC music.

Oh, and the "warm fuzzy feeling of nostalgia" might be that I had a couple o' (or 9) beers... (hic)...(hic)

Thanx to (hic) anyone interested or even if you just (hic) look in on our (hic) part of the forum.

Oh, btw, the art contest is going to be a regular thing for a while (I think...), and there will be different types of art we need. Right now, we are taking submissions for player icons, which use a 48 x 48 pixel pose of someone ready for the attack, and another one after attacking. Later, we might be into some wider and nicer looking pictures of fantasy art. you can check out the exact details of what art we need here:

http://home.earthlink.net/~tarlanon/id2.html

and if you want to know more about us at the DC community or about the game itself check out our side of the Forum or the place to download a copy and check it out:

http://uaf.sourceforge.net/

the artwork and display and pretty much every visual or sound component is customizable, as is the events and quests you want to send someone on.

Come check us out.
