We talked about this briefly in my bio class last week. Apparently cloning your cat will run about $80k

oh sorry im off by 10K i guess .. must be a discount offer .
*thinking to self* wonders what will happen if Z has him cloned. he may have immortal world wide domination |
Yikes... Choc indeed rules the world...
But I am strongly against cloning. As much as I want to research on everything that is possible, cloning complicates lots of things... and with this discovery, contentment will never be attained. To me it's sad if we start cloning. Cloning is like a big insecurity for me. This is not stem cell research, it's cloning pets. |
I don't think cloning is really a bad thing, just as long as it stays within the boundaries of animals. Reason I say that is because it can be used to end world wide hunger, bring back some dinos for fossil fuel, and so forth. Actually cloning a person, no, I wouldn't go for it, it's really not necessary, besides, we have enough people to over run the globe as is.

This made me think of that movie that's coming out soon 'Godsend'. Looks like it could be an interesting film.
Here's the MSN preview: Godsend Though from the preview the movie seems to through a bit of a twist into the whole cloning thing. [ 04-23-2004, 03:34 PM: Message edited by: Firestormalpha ] |
"Cloning" is a misnomer. All it is is directing the map of a life form. It remains an original lifeform. Ientical twins are not the same person are they? Yet they are "clones" of one another.
And, just like twins are different from one another, so too are clones different. Cats that have been cloned have been DIFFERENT CLOURS from the nonclone. But all the hoohar about parents cloning their child to have them back is nonsense and unresolved grief. The cloned child will be NEW and DIFFERENT, even if it has the same genemap. And if you clone yourself? You're a product of your parents genes. All you do is create a sibling twin, years younger than you. It's not like you'll "have another shot" at life. Ridiculous. |
hmm.. reminds me of dune.. with the Tlalaxias (spelling?) and thier thoery about cloning with memories.. lol .. pretty farfetched though

I am perfectly aware of that Yorick. But you have to admit, it would be a boring movie if the scriptwriters stuck to the facts. :D

Why clone then if this is the case IMO? No point now in cloning full-sized people or animals. |
