Ok, I purchased Nortan Antivirus last year for 2004, and now my virus thing has expired, and I do not wish to purchase the new one.
But, whenever I start my computer, I get an error message from Symantec stating that my virus/firewall stuff is out of date, and it offers me a check box to not have anymore updates, but I still do. It always stays at the front, and this is posing a real big problem as I need to get rid of it asap!!! Any help? |
With most major AV companies you will need to renew your AV subscription to continue receiving virus defination updates.
If you don't renew your subscription then you will not receive the latest virus defination updates. This means that you won't be protected from new viruses. You can do 1 of two things 1) Renew your NAV 2004 subscription 2) Uninstall the software and find yourself a free AV scanner. Hope this helps |
Do number 2. I uninstalled NAV and have never looked back - the speed difference was incredible on a slower computer. Plus NAV no longer ranks among the very best when it comes to detection - there is free software that does a better job. AVG and Avast or NOD32 spring to mind.

Do number 1
If you update your norton online it will be pretty cheap and the piece of mind is worth it. ever had to get rid of a virus on your computer? if so the question of cost would never come up |
I've used NAV for 7 + years now and never gotten a single virus as a result. I've had it catch many over there years, never any speed or other problems, even when using it on my Pent. 2 system.

Get Avast. It rocks.
