Is there any such thing as a free spyware removal software, not one that scans your drive for you, informs you of all the problems you have and asks you to pay up if you want to get rid of them?

A totally free one, if anyone has one could they tell me about it please, it would REALLY save my bacon. My computer is barely funtioning as it is and I'm nearing an essay deadline!

Help?

I recommend you get spybot too, Sig! I think you can just put that in google and find a site to download it from.

Yup, get both of them if possible. I have both, and they always find stuff that the other doesn't.

Adaware is good, but running it in combination with spybotSD gets better results:

I use SpyBot Search and Destroy - I only say that to clarify as there are some programs available for download on the internet that will search your hard drive and tell you what is there but will not remove the threats without upgrading to a pay version that also try to go by SpyBot. Last I heard the original was trying to block the use of "Spybot" by other sites by had not had success. Hope that made sense...

Won't firewall blocks those things from coming into your computer in the first place?
