With all the shit that's happening in Iraq it's amazing that they can even send a team to the Olympics.

What chance would their football team have if they came up against someone decent?

As much chance as South Afica in the Tri-Nations! Or Bradley Wiggins if he came up against Bradley McGee in the cycling!

At least they wouldn't rest their best swimmer for the final of the relay!!!

:D :D

Blackwash!!!!

That's just a bad dream ain't it?

That really really really hurt. Couldn't believe it. Counldn't believe it.

Mind you, our best Butterflyer skipped because he was in the final half an hour later and isn't Micheal-I-can -swim-every-event-Phelps.

Hackett also had the 1500 heat, so couldn't swim.

But Klim should have done the trick. Klim is a great swimmer, and did make up time. We lost it on the fly and breast legs. :( Really bummed. :( Really really bummed.

Bah. It's only sport (wait what am I saying?)

But go the girls!!!!!!!!!!

Yorick 08-21-2004 11:41 PM

7 golds for the swim team! 4 for the girls, 3 for Thrope and Hackett. Way to go!!!!

How did England do again Fred? :D :D :D

Now at least if the football team didn't win anything. the players won't be tortured back home.

Yeah Donut - our football team lost. Tell me - how are your UK guys going in the Olympic football - you must be through to the medal rounds by now surely ;) .

Tri-nations - bugger - we scored 3 tries to 2 but couldn't kick straight again. When are the IRB going to realise that people go to the game to see tries - they should increase the number of points for a try to 7, drop a penalty to 2, and a drop goal to 1 (damn useless things should only be used as tie-breakers).

Wiggins beat McGee - no surprise there. How come you didn't crow about the Hoy boy as well in the 1km? Was that because he is actually Scottish?

It is nice to finally hear something from you Fred on the Olympics. I was expecting it would probably be after you started to register a few medals on the tally board to register a little respectability :D .

And while we are on triumphs over adversity - what a fantastic comeback by "The Arse" last night. I was planning on going to bed at midnight with it nearing half time and the boys being 1-0 up and it being a work day today. When I checked the score before going to bed it was 1 all, then 1-2, then 1-3 in quick succession. Things were looking grim, and the tilt at the record was on shaky ground but they bounced back to a 5-3 win. Well done Aresnal - you have tied the record unbeaten streak. Now to add a few games to the tally - the legend grows .

And on the topic of your taunts about the 2 Brads - would you like a lazy tenner on the prospects of "our Brad" gaining revenge over "your Brad" in the teams pursuit? I think our guys have what it takes ;) .

The UK doesn't have a Football Association so we are ineligible to enter the Olympics.

Please don't try the old "divide and conquer" trick. In times of war and during the Olympics we are a "United" Kingdom!

(How many Athletic golds?)

As for Hoy! I knew his Old Man!

Are you serious? Ineligible? That's bizzarre. Why? Couldn't the Engish, Welsh, Scottish and North Irish footy associations create an association JUST for the olympics?
