I'm playing a character through from BG1 and I've just reached spellhold. Thing is, in BG1 I dualled Imoen to a Conjurer and now I would like her to be the same. I tried adding the kit in Shadowkeeper but, whilst the kit shows up on the character page, she doesnt get the extra spells. I've tried leveling her up and such, but no success. Any ides? Am i missing something really obvious?...

in case this helps i read on here somewhere (and forget where) that when you change NPC classes with SK you run them back to 0XP and then back up to where they should be and the game then sorts it all out - something like that anyway

Melcheor,

"Am i missing something really obvious?..." ... in BG2 you can't dual to a specialist kit. ;)

(a.) I haven't got BG2 with me, so I can't try anything out myself,

(b.) I'm not a modder ... even remotely ... really, I'm not ...

(c.) If I was to give it a shot, I might look at creating a new item that gives similar benefits to those of Edwin's amulet but can be used only by Imoen (or Neutral Good Human Mages). Now, this may not work, as Edwin's amulet is undroppable, which might make copying its features an unworkable option. Furthermore, this means that Imoen will loose an equipment slot, so I would maybe give the item 5% magic resistance or +1 on saves or something fair to compensate. Equally I would make a 'house rule' that she was not permitted to use any Divination spells - the only ones of value I would suggest being; Identification and True Sight, but throw on the list the unlikley; Infravision, Detect Invisibility, Know Alignment, Clairvoyance, Detect Illusion, Farsight, and Oracle. It's a 'poor man's' solution I confess, but it's an approach that I think 'should' work albeit clumsily.

There are lots of item creation mods and tutorials around, and several community groups who I'm sure would bend over backwards to help. I've not gone into item creation myself. Rastor's tutorial may be of use, while DLTCEP is identified as a program for use in the tutorial. Other common modding tools include Near Infinity and the ever-popular WeiDU.
