I don't know how often you guys watch the news but you might have heard that some of the Taliban detainees are coming here, to Guantonamo Bay Cuba. That of course is where I'm living now. I can't help but be a little bit nervous. (You'd be too if you had a bunch of crazed terrorists coming to your hometown, no matter how much security there was.) I keep wondering why they decided to bring them here. There are places just as isolated, and a heck of a lot closer to Afghanistan than GTMO. *Sigh* Well at least people know we exist now...

BTW did you know that Guatanamo Bay is actually an illegal occupation of Cuba? The US always sends a cheque to the Cuban government to cover the cost. Batista always cashed it and negotiated frequently to keep it in line with inflation. Castro refuses to cash the cheque and doesn't negotiate new figures.
