He's a god...

Legolas 05-18-2002 10:53 PM

He's a very good writer, but he spends the lives of his characters a little to easily IMO

I would have to agree with Legolas on this one.

Also, I prefer his first books to the latest ones. In the latest ones, while they still have lots of merit, arnet as enjoyable as the others.

I love his books. They are my all time favorite series.

Actually thats one of the things I like about his writing, he doesnt shirk at killing of a charachter if the plot calls for it. Makes it much more realistic IMO.
Plus...yes he is my favourite author :D

I like his character developement found thru his many books. Each book is as pleasurable to read as the previous book.

I agree with Azure on this. Nothing is more borring then a writer who uses the same characters through out the intire series. (*cough...Jordan...*cough) At least Feist keeps things unpredictable by killing of main characters from time to time, and letting his books take place over longer periods of time.

The first 2 books were a lot of fun but he went downhill after that. Although I actually like his kelewan sries better than the krondor series...but then I like the politics and such .

Hmmm, I have to disagree with you on that, I found the first two to be the least interesting. Mostly because of the main characters. Pug and Thomas ascended to semi-godhood too fast, and in the end they just wielded too much power to keep the plot interesting. In his later books he uses characters who are more down-to-earth, if only a little bit stronger or more intelligent than your average guy. Well, except for Caelis maybe, but he was mostly in the background.

Personally I loved the riftwar saga, but i thought most of the last series with the lizardmen was a load of crap, it had some good points, but it wasn't enough to make me want to buy them, much less read them more than once, but I loved Faerie Tale, IMO it's his best book.
