I rarely (if ever) used this spell. I'm going through with
a vampire slayer and a sorcerer. I accidently picked up this
spell for my sorcererette. Paralyzes for two TURNS?!?!?!http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/hihi.gif
Not to mention that everytime my fighter smackes them with
her dual katana's...chucks everywhere...except I get the
visual as if they were frozen.

At least they leave their stuff behind as they shatter into
a hundred pieces. This and quite a few hold spells were what
I used to obtain my favorite katana.

Anyone else like this spell?

I hate Chromatic Orb in Baldurs II. The REAL spell from D&D is simply a save vs the special effect. (At a certain caster level... the extra effect is actual death if saving throw is failed) However, in Baldurs II, all monsters get a +6 to their save to avoid the extra effect. Let me put it this way... any and all monsters above a certain level will automatically make that save. That means the spell only does damage, and can't even outdamage a magic missle. Basically, the best first level spell in D&D got nerfed to the point of uselessness.

Only the dmg ever gets through, if u notice monsters get a +6 to saving throw for effect to work, it might work on a kobold, ill have to try it on one some time.

I hate to disagree, but I'm currently walking around chunking
just about everyone I cast it at. I'm playing TDD, so maybe
that was one of the small changes. Now I'm curious, I'll have
to pop over there and check.

Oh well, I guess I better keep using while the critters are
still be affected.

A 'roll' of a natural 1 is still an automatic failure, so there is theoretically a 5% chance of the effect taking place.

Chromatic Orb ROCKS! And NOT because of the special effects, though they're a nice bonus. No, Chromatic Orb rocks because it's a 1st level spell which does acid damage once your mage is above 10th level... that makes it a level 1 troll-killer. That's good enough in my (spell)book!
