:-e talked to king went to tracks where mine cart is. I tried to take the left mine cart and pull leaver but it says it isn't working. I know the lever on the other mine cart is broken. The gate is still down to mine what am I doing wrong?

Go back and talk to the king some more. YOu haven't triggered the trolleys to be activated yet. Just work your way through the whole talk word list with the King and that will fix things for you.
