Lord Ludtke 11-27-2001 11:40 PM

I am on a bit of a mission to get the best ac that I can. My elven F/T with a dex of 19 has the following equipment.

Red Dragon Scale Plate
Helm of Balduran
Sentinal +4
Ring of Gaxx
Ring Prot +2
Cloak of Sewars

Giving me an AC of -16

I need gloves/gauntlets,belt, boots or a weapon that affects AC without interfering with what I have on.

Thanx for any help.

Mitro Jellywadder 11-28-2001 12:34 AM

Boots of Phazing give you a +2 AC bonus. Wield single weapon style and put two prof. points into that. Another +2 AC.

Cloak of Displacement might give you an AC bonus. I know it does against missile weapons.

Lord Ludtke 11-28-2001 02:00 AM

Are those items from ToB? I have never heard of them.

Zbyszek 11-28-2001 04:25 AM

Cloak can be bought in Trademeet(??, *scratching head*- not sure), maybe it was belt of Inertial Barrier.
Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise give Thaco bonus,
Boots od Speed are very handy - anyway boots can be changed during fight (dunno why? and armour not)

Weapon - Drizzt has scimitar called Defender, it gives +2 or +3AC. ( and second one which is +5 if I am right)

Whichdctor 11-28-2001 07:35 AM

as far as i can remember, theres atually some armour better than the dragon armour, its full plate mail +4, although i cant remember where you get it from..sorry

Whichdctor 11-28-2001 07:37 AM

oh, and ust thought i`d tell u,
the boots of phasing are actuall a cursed item, they make you phase out to a different enemy every round or so...pretty annoying

Full plate +4?
I don't remember that. There is the Drow Full Plate +5 * and the Armor of the Hart +3, but I haven't seen Full Plate +4. Do you mean the Gorgon Plate +4 (which is plate mail, not full plate mail). I think the reason why he is using Dragon Scale armour is that you can wear a Ring of Protection +2 with it, as dragon armour is not considered magical equipment. However, I believe this is no longer possible if you have TOB installed.

As for the AC-decreasing items, Lord Ludtke, what is your character's dexterity? If it's lower than 18, you can use the Gauntlets of Dexterity for an AC bonus. You can find them in the Athkatla Sewers, in the Ghoul Lord's town when you do the Unseeing Eye quest.

* which you can only use outside of the Underdark if you kick someone out of your party when you're still underground and have him/her carry the armour outside. They will go straight to Athkatla and you will be able to use the Drow equipment as long as you don't enter the Underdark Exit area

Those two are from SoA. The cloak can be bought in Trademeet. The Boots of Phasing are acquired during the Umar Hills quest.

The Defender gives you a +2 to AC, but you do not get to keep his items.

Why are they cursed? That is part of their design. It's to keep your enemies from surrounding you and bashing away.

There is T'rahcie's Tainted Plate (Plate +5), but it is cursed. Armor class is -2, but your charisma is reduced by 5 and your constitution is reduced by 2.

But that isn't full plate either, just normal plate. Its AC of -2 can also be reached by using Full Plate +2, for example the armour you can get when you cast Limited Wish (ask for a one-time wish, and then for a magical item of great power...make sure the wisdom of the caster is high enough)

Umm..I know. :D :D I was just stating another option to give him the -2 AC. Thanks for correcting me man. :D ;) :D
