As the SoA Forum guidelines suggest this to be an appropriate topic for "General Discussion" and I haven't found an existing thread about it I thought I might as well ask the question.
What do you prefer: Beef or Lamb? - if you're a carnivore at all.

And don't tell me this is SPAM - SPAM is pork!

I'll make a start:

It's easy for me to say: I prefer beef (even after and during the mad cow crisis) because I think lamb is a little bit too tender and has a weaker taste (i.e. needs more spicing up).

you mean to tell me people actualy eat those cute little fuzzy creatures???
I prefer beef or deer meat...this is best if soaked in beer for 24 hours......

*leaves singing mary had a little lamb little lamb, mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow.......

Actually, I prefer pork.

But if I have to chose from those two, then beef it is.

The steroids that come with beef add nothing to the taste.

So lamb lamb lamb. Even if it is American overpriced, lower quality, "please spend taxes on protecting our sheep farms from those efficient Australian and New Zealand farmers tasty imports".

Oooops Wellard gets into trouble again for derailing a thread to complain against American farm subsidies

I could eat beef for every meal. I like lamb every once in a while, but not for a steady diet. Unfortunately, I now eat more chicken than anything else.

Bungleau 06-01-2003 10:15 PM

Lamb for me, but probably because I don't have it often enough. Otherwise, beef it out.

And you can take the chickens to someone else. I don't mind 'em, but they're dead last on my list of favorite meats. Right below rattlesnake and roadkill.

You have not eaten Beef until you eat Black Angus from Virginia. The people that raise Black Angus feed them Fresh Grass and Oats only! They never use the so-called Cattle feed to fatten them up. They never use any kind of steroids or artifical means to make them grow. Every ounce of the Black Angus comes from natural means.
The Angus are raised in small groups in large fields and with plenty of fresh water to drink and Tall green grass under their feet to eat. Then they butcher them with A single large caliber bullet to the brain so that they never make them suffer or panic.
I had heard of this way of raising cattle but until I moved to Virginia I had never had any of this Beef. The Prime Rib and the Porterhouse steaks from the Black Angus, (when cooked correctly), just melts in your mouth and even when its cooked by a novis it tastes great. The ground Beef made into Hamberger patties are the best I've ever had.
Once you eat Black Angus no other beef will ever taste good, everyone I know will always compair other beef to Angus and the Angus always wins.

So My choice isn't Beef over Lamb. It's Black Angus over everything else.

I no longer buy any Beef but Black Angus. I do eat Pork,Bacon, chicken and fish now and then but, I never ever eat Lamb. :D
