something like ring of elemetal resistance. Is there such a spell/item/weapon/armour/shield that give such a thing?

My defender is immune to nearly all things except for magic based weapons... trying to be the ultimate defender here

if there isnt such a thing in undermountain, surely Z can make one can there be?

And while he's at it, he should make a gadget that casts divine favor level 15 x times a day.

Heh heh! Very little in the Undermountain can hurt you in undead form at the moment, just un-live with it Hark

I've never actually tested this, so I can't say for sure, but if you get your magic resistance up as high as you can, you may be able to absorb the magic damage. Stands to reason that if a 32 Spell Resistance can abosorb a magic missile, it may also reduce magical damage. I'm not going to stand by this assertion however, as it is pure speculation.

i have tried being in drow form, and it doesnt work :(

edit: drows have natural high magic resistance.

Actually, no.

Spell Resistance only affects the chances of a spell working on you.

To beat spell resistance a caster must roll:

1d20 + Caster Level + Any Spell Penetration feats (2,4, or 6) >/= Target's SR

If they do, the spell goes through. Thus why spell resistance can eat spells.

There is a Magic Damage resistance trait, but it can only be put on items.

Harkoliar 07-31-2006 12:41 AM

but there is no magic damage immunity available against magic damage weapons?

robertthebard 07-31-2006 12:44 AM

Might have to settle for resistance, if you can find something. I don't remember seeing anything, but I'm a long way from seeing everything that's in the well.

A DD/monk build is very decent for this sort of damage resistance.

20/- for the monk
9/- for the DD

Thats 29 damage off everything. There are a few other items/armours in the game that will help on top of that.

wellard 07-31-2006 08:31 PM

There is a cloak that gives a magic resistance of 32 in the game, which helps but I still managed to loose a fotitude save and die :D

mind you that was just once in two hours of gameing
