I just wonder... maybe this was posted about many times before... I did a search about it but couldnt find it.

So my question is. Where did the name "Ironworks" come from?

It came from an obscure regional dialect called "English" on a backwater planet somewhat haphazardly named "earth."

That the forum was formed around computer role-playing games, which feature extraordinary amounts of "steel on steel" action is to be disregarded as a coincidence.

Actually, I always thought the name might originate from "Ironworks, Kentucky," near Lexington. Big Z, originally from Louisville, I think, may have noticed this, I dont know. Tell us, Dan, I must know!!!! :D ;)
