How do you get your custom portraits to work? I've read that you might need to resize them, but when I check the attributes, they are the correct size. When I choose the custom appearance option, I can get the name of the picture I am trying to use, but I keep getting the blank screen with a question mark through it. I have added the S and the L to the end of the small and large portraits, respectively. Nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Taken from the Readme file. ;)
<blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Custom Portraits:

The measurements for player portraits are 38X60 pixels for
the smaller portraits (8-bit color runs faster but it can be
up to 24 bit color), and 110X170 pixels for the larger
portraits. To use a custom portrait, place it in the
Portraits directory (in the install directory for the game)
and add an S to the end of the small portrait name and an L
to the end of the large portrait - otherwise the two names
must be identical. The names must be 1-7 letters long,
maximum - so the filename with the S or L added to the end
is no longer than 8 total characters. The portrait files
must be in BMP format.

For example:
XXXXXXXS.bmp for small (38x60, 8-bit)
XXXXXXXL.bmp for large (110x170, 24-bit)

For multiplayer, each player must have a copy of the
portraits, otherwise they will see a blank icon instead of
the other player's custom portraits. You will need to
manually send these portraits to your friends as BG2 has
no method of transferring them.

That's the same info I have and I can't get it to work. I've tried using s and S or l and L. I've tried three letter names up to seven letter names. Nothing seems to work. I'll try to download a couple more pictures and use them. Maybe it's the picture I have.

Yeah, I've got the swame problem. I'll add my thanks if there's any help.

Have you restarted the game after adding in the portraits?

No..I'll try it though.....

Nope, that doesn't work either. Oh well, I guess she'll look like Mazzy forever. :(

? Can you e-mail me the portraits you are trying to use? I will check and see if they are a-okay.

I fixed it. When I went to attach the files to the e-mail, I noticed it was saved as LadyDL.bmp.bmp I just opened it with paint and saved it under a different name. Works now. Thanks.

Edit: Did you receive my e-mail?

Mitro, I'm glad that worked for you, but it's Greek to me :(

Sorry to hear that Galadria. Are the pictures in "Portraits"? Maybe my first problem was I didn't capitalize my folder. Other than that, have you checked the properties on them? If they are the right size, open them in a paint program and save them as a different name, with a capital L (large) and S (small) at the end. I don't know how my .bmp got doubled up at the end, but that was the final problem.
