Well, Mila had another ultrasound this week and we learned we're having a boy.
I would like to ask for some happy thoughts from you all, as we got some disturbing news. The ultrasound showed a "individual increased nuchal fold", which basically means that the skin at the back of his head, or top of his neck, is very slightly thicker than normal. This, apparantly, is a sign of potential problems, including the possibility of Down Syndrome.
We are told that everything else looks fine and there are no other signs of D.S. so we statistically have only a 0.8% chance of any problems, but as any of you who are parents know, anything more than 0% seems like way too much. We did an amniocentesis (Monday) and still have about 10 days to wait for results. This is pure torture. We went from the ecstasy of seeing our boy for the first time, to total terror.
As for names... We've been debating long and hard. I have posted here a few times about it. It looks like we'll be going with either Aeddan or Ieuan. They're both running about 50-50, so we'll have to wait and see.
I hope that you can give some moral support. I'll let everyone know when we get the results.

Well I am sure every thing will be fine. And congrates to you.

I see you wanted to know the sex not many people do that. We did as well with Sydney I am glad I did.

My mom had been sure it would be a girl. Our son consequently has a few pink outfits.

It may seem depressing, but it isn't! It's only scary because it leaves you not knowing what to expect. The "unknown" has been mankind's biggest fear throughout the ages.

Keep your head up, and remember .8% is a tiny, tiny chance.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you over the next few days about the results, and I'll look forward to hearing the positive results, and they WILL be positive because either way, you're expecting a sweet baby boy that's yours to love and who will love you in return as only a child can. ;) :D

Congratulations!

First off, congratulations on finding out that you are going to have a wonderful baby boy. Then on to the bad news, my philosophy is that life throws you curve balls and you have to bring out the heavy hitting bats in order to hit them. When I found out that my daughter had a very slim chance of living outside of me, my first instinct was to think negative and sad thoughts. Which I did. But you have to keep in your thoughts that the baby still feels what the mommy and daddy are feeling. Until you find out conclusive results, think positive and even though I am not a big God person, pray, who knows it might help you. And if you find out it turns out to be bad news, then band together as a family and remember that no matter what happens, good or bad, as me and Azred have figured out the hard way, you can make it as a loving and supportive family unit. I hope everything turns out ok and congratulations again on the baby being a boy.

Oh dear, well, tiny boys don't KNOW they are in pink outfits.

I hope all is well when you get your tests back! It sounds like they think your chances of a problem are small and we're all hoping your son is ok!!!
