I've heard a fair bit about soloing as one class or another.. Frankly I can't imagine myself making it through BG with only one or two areas of expertise. For me, it's usually got to have a balance.. that you can't just have mages and clerics, or you can't just have fighters.. The easier and better solution would be partnering.. There is still the challenge of making it through thr game without load of NPCs, but you have a better balance. My next game will be a Monk, Sorceror partnership... (if your wondering how this is possible, you just start a multi game on your own w/ two created characters... then save. Go to you BG directory and move the multiplayer saved game file to the Single Player Saved Game Folder, Open BG and voila, instant single player with multiple created characters)
Veterans of the game still might like the added challenge of soloing but for the average play-when-I-can player, partnering is a much better choice.. Any suggestions?

Sorcerer and Fighter/Thief would be my suggestion, it would give you a tank which could also find and remove traps.

A partnership? Hmmmm... ...

Multi-classed Fighter/Thief and a Sorcerer. Both Elves, and male female respectively.

Yeah, true.. But I really want to see a monk at level 21 early on in the game.. (I'll probably use the exp cap remover if i hit the bar line too early)

Note: Monk at level 21 has 63(!) magic resistance, add Sword of Balduran, Ring of Gaxx, and Taligun's Amulet of Magic Resistance.. and you have 93% magic resistance!!! Beat tha Kangaxx!

Magic Resistance do crap againt Imprisonment.

Synthos 10-21-2001 12:35 AM

Monks can find traps, but not remove them (as far as i know.. Why do they even have that ability if they can't remove traps?) Fighter/Theif is a good idea, swashbuckler is pretty good melee too..
So i think for irenicus' dungeon i may 'borrow' imoen for trap finding. Just until I get to the surface.

Really? I wouldn't thought 93 would stop imprisonment, or does magic resistance not apply to imprisonment? Spell description says nothing about that...

Neb 10-21-2001 12:39 AM

Kangaxx uses a "super" version of Imprisonment I believe.

Imprisonment ignores Magic Resistance, Maze on the other hand, is affected by Magic Resistance.
