Does anyone in the present time and age use a pocket watch? When my father asked me what I would like as a birthday gift and I answered pocket watch, he said "Okay, that can be arranged," then moments later laughed and added "though nobody uses them anymore."

Does any of you or any of your friends or relatives use a pocket watch? Isn't it common knowledge that pocket watches just look soooooo cool? :D

I've got one, has a nice train design carved into it. Was given to me as a gift, but I never really got into the habit of using it.

I got one as a college graduation gift from my grandparents. It's very nice. But I never use it no.

I don't even wear a watch. I wear a pager on my belt which doesn't even have service on it anymore. I just don't like waring watches so the pager doubles for the date and time.

What he said :D

I think they are kinda out of date.

I have an iPod, which works as my watch. I don't think I've ever known anybody that has had (or has) a pocket watch.

My dad uses a pocket watch, but it's just ebcause of his line of work. His wrist watches always get broken.

I asked for the same thing for my Bday, and I use it often..

Though it's not quite the one I was looking for, (I was trying to get a closed front one, instead got an open front)

So to your question, yes, some people still use pocket watches.

I agree they're cool. ;)

I want a pocket watch that is simple yet elegant... like the old times.

Problem is, I have to many stuff in my pocket that it doesn't make sense anymore to have a pocket watch. I have my keys, rosary, ipod, handkerchief, wallet and my celfone. Wrist watch is best for my situation. I am still old-fashioned though because I am wearing a digital-analogue watch, the first of its kind to come out... hehehe
