If I'm not mistaken, it appears that in the map levels created using Dungeon Craft you can only turn at right angles and move square by square, and the characters/creatures are all sprites. Why don't they come up with a Dungeon Craft 2 in which you can build true 3D environments (like those found in Wizardry 8) and objects, creatures and NPC characters are also all true 3D and not just sprites? Or will we have to wait for Morrowind for that?

because, Dungeon Craft is an attempt to re-create an older AD&D GoldBox program called Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures. From what I understand, the team is trying to create an updated version of the old dos game. I believe they are trying to keep it as close to the original as possible, but at the same time updating, the graphics, resolutions, audio features and possibly networking down the road. If you are looking for a game like you mentioned, try Wizards & Warriors. That was a really fun game.

Thank you. What I'm looking for, though, is something that will allow me to construct my own true 3D dungeons etc. Guess I'll wait for Morrowind. ;)

Well, you never know.. Richard is a programming god, he MAY decide to make a DC2 with nice 3D stuff. (It would make resolution changing easy for my graphics, since models are scalable. ;)

I agree with you Ziroc that Richard is a programming god, god bless that man. He have created something we wouldn't be creating in a million year or have the patience and knowledge that he does. Thank you so much Richard for everything..thank you, I give you a thump up :D

I suppose if enough people ask for it, then it'll be made.

Fingers crossed!

Hey guys

A great idea, but that would involve a lot of work, just imagine all the bugs when trying to convert DC into a 3d version, it would be an enormous task. Having said that, it would be great if it could be done in the future once this project winds up, but I don't see that happening for the forseeable future.

Cheers

Unless they make the Baldurs Gate source code available. But's that's wishful thinking.
