So many different ones, surprised nobody has died or popped yet in one of them LOL. What do you think about eating contests?

I saw one live today at Coney Island on TV. LOL, every time the smaller person wins. I really though am like concerned about this one guy, he's like 400 pounds, and at the end when he lost the host was telling him maybe he needed to practice more basically. I mean, sheesh, he's telling a 400 pound guy basically he needs to eat more, to win the competition! All they get is a year's supply of hotdogs (LOL) and a belt and a trophy for winning.

Amazing though how those that are smaller are the best competitors in eating contests. The winner today ate 53.5 hotdogs in 12 minutes, he blew everyone else way. The lady that won 3rd place at I think 38 or so hotdogs is a gal from my area, 98 lbs LOL. She's eaten 65 hard boiled eggs in 8 minutes before too, LOL, dang!

LOL this kind of competition is just hilarious and weird to me LOL.

hmmmm... lol I want a hotdog now, but have none, dang...

I heard about... interesting that I never made the connection that it's been the smaller person who always seems to win. Wonder why that is? What scientific rationale is there to support that I wonder.

I'd like to know because I love to indulge in things quite tasty and I love steak.... LOL

I'm not sure about food eating contests, sometimes it gets a bit messy, and a little gross. I don't think I would be the type of person to do something like that, or to watch something like that... wouldn't the competitors have something else to do other then eat?
I mean I'm not objecting to it...it's a good way to get free food :D

The guy that won , which was a slim Asian guy, (also his second win in a row for him and broke his own record today) says that fat makes it harder to pack in the food, that being skinny is better. He said he ate like a pig for months, then ate nothing for 2 days before the competition. I have no idea, but he has to have a point, as again the biggest ones never win!

I found my way to that station as well. I believe that was his third win, however. They were mentioning on how no one had ever won three consecutive competitions before. Also, I think he broke more than his own record. The world record, made sometime in the 1910's, was 50.

But eck! Everything about that contest was revolting.

Too true. I tried watching a couple before, I've even glanced over different previews and I don't think it should be called eating contests, more like 'whose stomach is made out of iron?' I say that because they never eat any actually sane food, the contestants always chug down gallons of mayonnaise, eat this many frozen hot dogs, try out this uncooked liver, just nasty crap. Not really something to watch.

Crazy people. Someone's gonna get hurt soon. I don't know about them, but when I eat, I like to ENJOY my food.

what was surprising to me was that the announcers were saying that the winner would soon be the next Jordan-like figure. Nobody goes around saying "hey, could you get tickets to that hot-dog eating contest? they were sold out by 8:30"...i mean honestly
