I'm currently listenening to his latest album "Dear Heather"
Fanbloodytastic (pardon the tmesis!) I haven't listened to any of his songs since Jennifer Warnes covered many of them in the 80's on "Famous Blue Raincoat" Fantastic lyrics - the first track "We'll go no more a rovin" could almost be a poem! So we’ll go no more a-roving So late into the night, Though the heart be still as loving, And the moon be still as bright. For the sword outwears its sheath, And the soul outwears the breast, And the heart must pause to breathe, And love itself have rest. Though the night was made for loving, And the day returns too soon, Yet we’ll go no more a-roving By the light of the moon. The title track "Dear Heather" is brilliant and I make no excuse for posting the complete lyrics: Dear Heather Please walk by me again With a drink in your hand And your legs all white From the winter He's now over 70 years old and this album has a feeling of farewell about it - let's hope not. |
Thanks, Donut... I've been wondering what to get my dad for Christmas, and I know he's a big Leonard Cohen fan. This will just about do it...

I'll bite. It's a poem by George Gordon Byron, better known as Lord Byron. Oh and it's nice to see you using words like tmesis again. |

There are far too few english words starting with "tm" |
Mel. That Byron bloke was a bit of a twat. What on earth does "the sword outwears its sheath" mean??
|
ROTFL!! :D Twat indeed.
"Your" on a roll again aren't you Donut? Fan-fecking-tastic! |
