Must be some little Island Race with salt water coursing through their veins! Easiy the best results in the Olympics!

Sailed around the world leaving little versions of themselves all over the place. Left their judicial system, left their Parliamentary system, left their language (although this has been butchered out of recognition in most of the colonies), left their value system.

;)

Who? The Danes?

Or did you mean the Hellenic Cretans?

As a US Sailing alternate (49er), I'm gonna have to take issue with this out of sheer patriotism!

Actually... no, you're right, we suck... :D

The King of Subtitles flies another over the head it seems.

Does that mean you nearly made the Olympics?

Where does the name "49er" come from for this boat? Is it a new class in the Olympics this year? An interesting boat!

It means we did badly at a pair of late qualifiers & get a vacation now instead :D

The 49er was developed from the Sydney Eighteen skiff (skiffs are seriously overpowered and have those wings sticking out the sides), designed for both people on the trapeze. I've no idea where the name came from; it makes about as much sense as any names in skiff of dinghy sailing...

There were 49ers at Sydney 2000, but I think that was the first year.

The Swiss are the kings of sailing - don't they hold the America's Cup? :D .

You should know that the Americas Cup has much to do about wealth and little to do about sailing!!
