Any advice?

I got myself:

TUSA extra dry hybrid II snorkel with exhaust system and wave cutters
Oceanic Googles

suntan lotion of course (but you know that :D )

i was thinking for you to wear something similar to a surfer suit to give you a little protection from the cold or small scratches but its just me. swim naked if you wish i wont be there anyways :D .

You might want to try picking up a diving "skin". They are extremely lightweight and very inexpensive - made of Lycra I believe. Think of it as an outer layer of protection against the sun among other things. They slip on and off easily, are VERY, VERY light, and I use one routinely for both snorkelling AND scuba diving. I highly recomend them.
