I'm sorry but I really have to know.

And I hate to do it this way, but this poll is very simple:

I chose Independent, because I vote for the best candidate for the job. I do tend to lean toward liberal, though (gasp, the horror)! ;)

When I turned 18, in 1984, I registered as a Republican, but around '92 I switched to Independant. I vote the person, not the party, because I'm happy to call an idiot an idiot regardless of party. :D

EDIT - I only lean a little to the right...lol. ;)

I've been a Republican since 1963, and have voted for Nixon, Ford, Reagan, GHWB, Dole, and GWB. I wish that I could say that I vote for the best man regardless of party, but then I'd have to vote for a Democrat once a century.

Been registered as a Green since they became an official party here in California (1992) and worked actively to help them qualify for ballet status before that. I'll occasionally vote for a democrat if not green is running I've even voted for and even campaigned for a republican or two in the past.

I used to vote democrat. Hell, I even voted for Clinton in '92. And that's the last time I voted dem. By '94 my political beliefs had changed 180 degrees.

I was 'raised' to be a Republican, but by the time I was old enough to vote, I had already become "Independent" (in more than one sense of the word ).

I vote for whomever seems to be lying the least. ;)

Well, I'm not American, but here in NZ the bi-polar democracy is pretty much the same. Instead of 'Republican' and 'Democrat' we have 'National' and 'Labour'. In which case I still vote independant, although I voted Labour (left of centre) in the last election. It all boils down to who looks as though they'll get the job done. The Labour candidate, Helen Clarke, certainly seems to be the most capable of the bunch right now. So, in other words, I lean toward the left of the centre at the moment, but I'm still young. I'm sure I'll be a grizzled old rightist curmudgeon before my time is up.

But hey, they're all politicians. They give rhetorical speeches for a living, and we let them... who's directing who? ;)
